In what ways does your media product use, develop and challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I had made a Pinterest board to gather inspiration. I looked into photography shoots from professionals and how they had edited them. Some included silhouettes with a bold background and some reversed it and put the pattern on their body and the background a block colour – mostly black.

In other One Republic music videos, urban settings are used. I wanted to follow this pattern by filming in the town centre but I wanted to develop this further by having the urban settings of Weston-Super-Mare but also include the beach setting of Weston. This contrasted well with the narrative because the lighting was very high key, making ‘love’ an obvious theme and the beach made it look like a holiday resort, something that people go on to have a nice time.

Most artists have their face on the front to show it is their album but I wanted to develop this and include graffiti, which is featured on our actor’s face on the poster. I wanted to link them both together and thought graffiti was best to do this with because I had featured graffiti in my music video many times and it was something alternative from things usually shown in a pop music video.
